Our Approach

The Crawl, Walk, Run, Refresh Methodology.

Our proprietary training method ensures teams are trained in a structured, well-thought-out approach that maximizes understanding, information retention, and skill development.

1
Crawl
Learn the process, build your plan, train your team on roles, and get familiar with your materials.
2
Walk
Test and refine your process on a small scale through functional exercises.
3
Run
Conduct a comprehensive full-scale test with as many stakeholders as you choose.
4
Refresh
Continue training, update processes, and keep your team sharp through ongoing professional development.

In-Person Training

Hands-on training, built for your community.

Every in-person training is tailored to your organization. We meet with you first, recommend the right program for where you are, and support you through the entire process.

1
Phase One
Crawl

In the crawl phase you learn the reunification process, develop your plan, acquire supplies, train your team on their roles, and familiarize everyone with your materials.

In-Person

½ Day Reunification Training Workshop

Our most comprehensive crawl-phase event. Combines the training presentation, an in-class walk-through, a tabletop exercise, and a facilitated after-action review (AAR).

In-Person  ·  2 Hours

Reunification Training Presentation

Covers the full reunification process, ICS integration, 4 main site stations, team roles and responsibilities, and the importance of communication.

In-Person  ·  2 Hours

Tabletop Exercise

Participants discuss actions and decisions as a scenario unfolds. Uses your organization’s own reunification plan as the basis, followed by a facilitated AAR.

2
Phase Two
Walk

Take the knowledge from the crawl phase and begin testing and refining your process on a small scale. These are training events, not evaluations — the goal is to find and fix the wrinkles.

In-Person  ·  ½ Day

Functional Exercise

Your team rotates through staff, parent, and student roles at a fully set-up reunification site. Builds empathy and preparedness. Includes 1–2 practice reunifications and a facilitated AAR.

3
Phase Three
Run

Everything comes together in a comprehensive test of your full reunification capability. Include as many stakeholders as you wish — transportation, traffic, communications, and more.

In-Person  ·  ½ or Full Day

Full-Scale Exercise

A complete end-to-end test of your reunification process. Can include incident notification, team communications, parent notifications, traffic plan, senior official briefing, missing student scenarios, and more.

4
Phase Four
Refresh

Ongoing training keeps your team sharp. The refresh phase follows the same format as crawl, walk, and run — tailored to your current needs and updated based on AARs and real-world experience.

Custom

Custom Refresh Program

We work with you to design a continuing education plan that fits your schedule and addresses gaps identified in previous training events or real-world activations.

How It Works

Our process, built around you.

No organization or town is the same. We work with you before, during, and after every training event to make sure you’re set up for success.

Step 1

Assess

We meet with you before scheduling anything to understand your current situation — your process, your team, and your community.

Step 2

Recommend

We propose a training program based on the Crawl, Walk, Run, Refresh Methodology that meets you where you are and gets you where you want to be.

Step 3

Support

We work with you through the entire planning process. After the event, you’re equipped to use your reunification capability independently.
